Charity Auction will take place at the HSNY 2024 Gala on Saturday, April 6

The Horological Society of New York's annual charity auction plays a vital role in supporting the future of watchmaking education. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised from the charity auction benefit HSNY’s ongoing educational initiatives, including supporting watchmaking students with scholarships.


 
 

Lot 1: Endeavour Wall Clock and Dinner Experience with Edouard and Bertrand Meylan, Donated by H. Moser & Cie.

An H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour wall clock (220mm diameter) featuring their signature Funky Blue fumé dial and a private dinner at Moserland NYC with Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. Moser & Cie. and Bertrand Meylan, CEO of MELB Luxe on May 6th.

Estimate: $2,500 to $5,000

Lot 2: An Oris X Bracenet Aquis Watch with Unique Engraving and Four Premium New York Yankees Tickets, Donated by Oris

Oris, the Official Luxury Watch of the New York Yankees, donates four premium seat tickets to a game during the 2024 season. Game subject to availability and will be at a mutually decided game.

The Oris X Bracenet Aquis is made in collaboration with the social enterprise Bracenet, which makes accessories from upcycled ‘ghost’ fishing nets (and now, spectacularly unique watch dials). Powered by the Oris 733, base SW 200-1 automatic movement with 38 hour power reserve. Case engraved “HSNY 2024”.

Lot 3: Omakase Experience with Chef Daisuke Nakazawa, Donated by Grand Seiko

An elite private dinner for two hosted by Grand Seiko at their new Flagship Boutique in New York at 540 Madison Ave. in their downstairs VIP omakase bar with dinner curated by renowned Chef Daisuke Nakazawa. Chef Daisuke Nakazawa is the Owner/Chef of the eponymous Sushi Nakazawa in New York City, which has been open since 2013 and has received a Michelin Star as well as three New York Times Stars. Chef Nakazawa apprenticed at Sukiyabashi Jiro under Jiro Ono for 11 years and appeared in the David Gelb’s documentary “Jiro Dreams of Sushi”.

The experience will include an omakase crafted by Nakazawa himself, premium sake and whisky native to Grand Seiko's two hometowns, and an opportunity to view some of the most rare and desirable timepieces from Grand Seiko with brand curator Joe Kirk.

Date and time would be within 2024, but determined based on the winner’s preference and Chef Nakazawa’s availability.

Lot 4: Custom Safari Jacket, Donated by The Armoury

The Armoury’s Safari Jacket, with its clean design and functionality, has been an Armoury essential for over a decade. The waist pockets feature gussets and bellows, while two internal chest pockets bring the total count to six. Lot 5: Reverso Discovery Workshop, Donated by Jaeger-LeCoultre

Enjoy a private, six seat Reverso Discovery Workshop at Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Atelier d ’Antoine located at their new Madison flagship boutique (701-703 Madison Avenue).

Discovery Workshops are a unique opportunity to explore the world of Swiss fine watchmaking in a new way, blending academic education and hands-on experience. Hosted by an instructor and a technical expert, participants will deep dive into the Reverso archives and go hands-on with a variety of models.

Lot 6: Watchmaking Experience, Donated by Ulysse Nardin & Wempe

Be among the first to learn the secrets inside Ulysse Nardin’s FREAK collection, which includes the Freak ONE – the proud recipient of the Most Iconic Watch Prize at the 2023 Grand Prix of Horology of Geneva (GPHG). Ulysse Nardin & Wempe welcome you & your guests to join a Ulysse Nardin Master Watchmaker at the prestigious Peninsula Hotel in New York.  Immerse yourself in the world of haute horlogerie from an independent & integrated Swiss manufacturer, while being guided through assembling the FREAK from start to finish. 

3-hour experience. Includes premium hospitality for up to 4 guests. Date & time to be mutually agreed upon.

Lot 7: Étude N°2 Guilloché Number 00 Watch with Light Rose Dial, Donated by The Lyrique Group

The Lyrique Étude N°2’s Guilloché watch has a bespoke hand-made movement by Agenhor (AGH-6802), a 39mm steel case by Voutilainen & Cattin SA, a guilloché dial by Comblémine, bespoke hands by Fiedler and an ostrich band by Protexo with a buckle by Boucledor. All design work was by Matthieu Allègre, Bureau de Design.

The Agenhor movement includes a Straumann® Hairspring, a balance wheel designed by Agenhor and produced by Precision Engineering AG, and two Agenhor intellectual properties designed by Jean-Marc Wiederrecht—the AgenPit regulator and AgenEse gear. All components were hand-assembled by Sébastien Monney’s company, M.A.D’E GVA Sarl.

Lot 8: 18 Karat Gold, Hand-Engraved, HSNY 2024 Lifetime Membership Card, Donated by Voutilainen SA

A unique lifetime membership card, made from solid 18K yellow gold. The front of the card was hand-engraved by Voutilainen SA with a beautiful design, and the back of the card features a brilliant guilloché pattern. The winner’s name will be engraved on the card. The size of the card is exactly the size of a credit card.

This lifetime membership card grants the owner lifetime membership privileges at HSNY, including all aspects of all current and future membership levels.

All lots offered without reserve, with no buyer’s premium. One hundred percent of proceeds from the sale of these items will benefit HSNY’s ongoing educational initiatives, including supporting watchmaking students with scholarships. Absentee bids may be submitted in advance of the auction via email to info@hs-ny.org, and will be accepted until 5PM EDT, Friday April 5, 2024. Please note that all absentee bids submitted are final and may not be cancelled once confirmed. By submitting a bid, you accept personal liability to pay the total purchase price including all applicable charges and taxes.

Buyers may be entitled to claim a charitable contribution deduction for the hammer price, but such deduction will be limited to the excess of the hammer price paid for the lot over its fair market value. Inaccordance with applicable IRS regulations, HSNY has provided a good faith estimate of the fair market value for each lot which is the mean of the pre-sale estimates relating to that lot. Buyers will have until December 31, 2024, inclusively, to indicate to HSNY in an email to info@hs-ny.org expressing their wish to benefit from this charitable contribution deduction. Buyers are advised to discuss their particular tax circumstances with their independent tax advisors to determine whether a charitable contribution deduction is available, including residency eligibility under applicable laws to determine if a charitable deduction is available in any jurisdiction outside the United States.
